National Seminar on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher and Technical Vocational Education as part of the Central Asian Education Platform Project

On May 25, 2017 in Astana a national seminar on quality assurance and accreditation in higher and technical vocational education was held within the framework of the Central Asian Education Platform (CAEP) project.

The seminar was attended by both foreign experts: Baiba Ramina, Director of the Academic Information Center of Latvia; Claudio Dondi, expert of CAEP on education and training; Eva Khmelecka, Institute for Educational Research, Poland; Christian Wagner, the head of the Central Asian Education Platform, as well as the national representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CCES under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department of Modernization of Professional, Technical and Post-Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the academic community, Atameken. An independent agency for accreditation and rating was represented by Kanapyanov T.E., head of international projects and public relations, and Myrzagaliyeva A.H., head of the information and analytical project.

The following issues were discussed at the seminar:

- Standards and guidelines for quality assurance and accreditation in the EHEA (ESG) - recent trends and challenges;

- Quality assurance in vocational education and training (EQAVET) and the connection of quality assurance and accreditation in higher education and TVE;

- Practical implementation of quality assurance and accreditation systems - legislation, regulatory framework and institutional conditions.

In addition, presentations of experts from these countries were presented with the aim of exchanging experience and disseminating best practices in the quality assurance system of Latvia and Poland.

At the end of the seminar, a number of issues were identified for discussion in the subsequent project events.
