Meeting of ENQA Agency Directors: Discussion on ENQA’s Future Strategy and ESG Revision

On February 27, 2025, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) held an online meeting of agency CEOs to discuss key strategic issues, including the revision of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
A. Zhumagulova represented the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) at this meeting.
Participants reviewed the initial concept of ENQA’s strategy for 2026–2030, which emphasized the need to maintain relevant goals while enhancing flexibility, increasing visibility in policy discussions, and strengthening the organization's global position. During the discussion, a SWOT analysis was conducted to identify ways to reinforce ENQA’s role in national and European higher education policy.
Additionally, an overview of the ESG revision process was presented. The main discussions within the ESG Steering Committee focused on strengthening the link between quality assurance, universities' institutional missions, and current trends in higher education, such as digitalization and lifelong learning.
The meeting reaffirmed ENQA's commitment to shaping quality assurance policies and adapting to new challenges in European higher education.
