On September 20, 2024, the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) held a webinar aimed at preparing experts for the upcoming visits of external expert panels to educational organisations in the field of healthcare. The webinar was moderated by IAAR project managers for institutional and specialised accreditation: Candidate of Medical Sciences A.S. Jakenova, M.A. Saidulayeva, and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, I Category Expert, and Chair of the IAAR Expert Council on Medical Education, S.I. Sydykova.

The webinar program consisted of two parts: a theoretical section, where participants were introduced to the Agency's activities, the main tasks and functions of an external panel expert in the accreditation process; and a practical section that included case studies, assessment of an educational organisation's report for compliance with IAAR accreditation standards and criteria, as well as a business game with focus groups. Webinar participants were introduced to the organisation and implementation of external quality assessment for compliance with international IAAR standards for medical education based on WFME and ESG standards, as well as the Guide to external assessment in the process of accreditation of an educational organisation and educational programme.

The webinar covered issues of collegial discussion of the assessment results in accordance with the parameters of the accreditation type, the formation of the evidentiary and analytical part of the report of the external expert panel. Particular attention was paid to the IAAR Accreditation Standards in the context of student-centered learning and assessment. Upon completion of the webinar, participants will receive IAAR International Expert Certificates.
